Austin orders change in U.S. troop deployment in region
The Pentagon has confirmed that U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will order changes to the deployment of U.S. troops in the Middle East.
He stated that the defense minister has not yet decided which defense capabilities will be deployed.
He said the defense minister assured his Israeli counterpart Yoav Galant that the escalation is not inevitable, noting Washington’s commitment to strengthening US forces in the region.
He added that Washington is reaching out to its partners in the region to support the defense of Israel and ensure the continuation of commercial shipping across the Red Sea.
